Years ago, after buying my mother a near perfect Emerald cut 2CT Diamond, I jokingly told her that would be the biggest stone she would probably ever get from me.

The following year I came across this big stone and thinking this would be the best practical joke, I could set my mother off into the stratosphere as she does not wear large stones as a rule. Finding the ugliest purse, I could get my hands on and to continue with my practical joke on my mother I had the stone set and hid it in the purse.

Laughing gleefully, I felt I had pulled the ultimate prank on my mother and couldn’t wait for her to unwrap the gift at Christmas. ( I had a real back up gift after she opened this one). Much to my surprise my mother LOVED this stone and continues to wear it upon occasion, hence the birth of
